Material Control
Material Control is probably the area that affords the most opportunities for efficiency gains in an organization. Traditionally, it has been responsible for hidden, but nevertheless avoidable, costs that have resulted in non-competitive products. The widespread application of concepts such as Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Just-In-Tim (JIT) and numerous statistical techniques are all aimed at holding inventory related costs down to the minimum. This reflects a growing awareness among companies of the strategic benefits inherent in streamlining all aspects of materials management.
The Material Control solution includes objects such as: Item Master, Service Management, Supplier Relationship Management, Cycle Count Management, Material Requisitions, Purchasing, Receiving, Inspection and Stock Room Transactions.
All of the material control capabilities are geared to optimizing inventory turns. They help maintain the inventory levels and ensure that material is purchased on the most beneficial terms and that tight control is exercised over their usage.
